Veterinary Surgeon (Part-time or Full-time)

Abbey Vets in South Wales has a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, experienced team, where you can achieve your full potential!

 

Our Practice:

Our experienced team has been providing excellent Veterinary Care to pets across Monmouthshire, Gwent, and Powys since the 1980’s.

Our practice is spread across 4 well-equipped, RCVS accredited sites and we have a varied and interesting caseload. Our main site is in Abergavenny, with branches in Monmouth, Tredegar, and Brecon.

We have all the usual equipment, and all branches have ultrasound, digital x-ray, and blood analysers.

Very little is referred, although full clinical freedom is given where this is required.

There is 24-hour care for in-patients available Monday to Friday at our main site in Abergavenny, with our RVN team providing on site care throughout the night. Allowing our team to continue providing fantastic patient care overnight, with great case continuity for both us and our clients.

 

Team:

We have a knowledgeable and experienced team with a diverse range of specialist skills and interests, including internal medicine, orthopaedics, and feline care.

Our team consists of 15 vets, including certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Radiology as well as a visiting Cardiologist- meaning there is excellent case support when required and great learning opportunities.

 

Rota:

This is a full time Veterinary role, primarily split across our branches, with the possibility of a bias towards one branch. This position will be worked over 4 days a week, with 1:5 full Saturdays along with 1:20 Saturday mornings and contribute to our in-patient only on call rota on a 1:6 pattern (OOH is outsourced, however we still provide on call support for our night RVNs looking after our hospitalised patients).

There is a great mix of consulting and operating both in Abergavenny and at our branches.

We are open to flexible working requests, as it is important to us to find the right candidate, and the right fit for our team.

We rota in set breaks for phone calls/ case work, and with a dedicated hours lunch break.

Veterinary Nurse (Maternity Cover)

Full-Time Registered Veterinary Nurse Vacancy – All Sites (MAT COVER)

Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse who has excellent clinical standards and is a team player? If so, you could be just the person we are looking for!

About Us: Our experienced team has been providing excellent Veterinary Care to pets across Monmouthshire, Gwent, and Powys since the 1980’s. Our practice is spread across 4 well-equipped, RCVS accredited sites and we have a varied and interesting caseload. Our main site is in Abergavenny, with branches in Monmouth, Tredegar, and Brecon. There is 24-hour care for in-patients available Monday to Friday at our main site in Abergavenny, with our RVN team providing on site care throughout the night. Allowing our team to continue providing fantastic patient care overnight, with great case continuity for both us and our clients.

 

Team: Abbey Vets is made up of a team of 10 RVNs and 6 SVNs across our practices in Abergavenny, Monmouth, Brecon and Tredegar. With 13 vets and 4 well equipped, RCVS accredited sites we provide a varied and interesting case load. Our Vet team includes certificate holders in Surgery and Medicine meaning we can provide excellent services to our patients and clients, and our nursing team experience an interesting and varied case load. 24-hour nursing at our main Abergavenny site also enables us to provide excellent clinical care to our patients.

As well as being a group of skilled professionals, we also enjoy socialising as a team in our free time. We have enjoyed winter/summer parties, pizza, and cake (we have a resident baker) and having fun outside of work!

 

Role: We are looking for a full time RVN to join us on a temporary basis of 12-14 months to cover one of our RVN’s maternity leave, with the possibility of joining us on a permanent basis following this initial fixed term.

With excellent facilities and a fantastic team, you will be utilizing your nursing skills to promote high standards of clinical and client care alongside a supportive team. Confidence in assisting with routine operations, diagnostic imaging and nurse consultations is desired. Personal development is supported and encouraged. Previous sole charge nursing experience is an advantage, but not essential as training and support will be given.

 

Rota:

You will work as part of a 6-week rolling rota with a combination of 8-hour shifts between 0800-1900 with inclusion on the inpatient night rota (Monday-Friday) with a week off post nights. You will also be required to work 1 in 6 Saturdays (0830-1700) at our Abergavenny branch.

The role would primarily be based at Abergavenny, although travel between all branches will be required.
